It had… bothered him? worried him? been noticeable to him that every time they got into their quarters, all he wanted to do immediately was take her in his arms. He was doing his best just to let himself enjoy it without obvious resistance—preemptively bracing himself to lose it. (Not just 'cause she'd probably be able to pick that up.) He'd had and lost before. Better to have at all, right?
